I am offering my beloved Mercedes Benz SEL 6.9 for sale.
After owning the car for 15 years it is time to let it go.
As a Mercedes lover I wanted this model since I first saw one at a dealership. At that time I owned a W108 after owning a W116 280se before that. I bumped into this car not running and stored for 10 years on a lift, so I bought it as a project.
Besides the missing interior and some small bits, the car was complete. The owner had it for about 12 years and only drove twice with it. The owner before that owned it from the mid 80’s and was a Chinese restaurant owner.
- Rust
When I bought it the door sills, rear fenders and trunk storage areas were rusted, as with a lot of W116’s so I had these adressed and rewelded by a professional. The sills are coated from the inside as well and the full underside received a full new coating after cleaning.
- Suspension
The suspension was collapsed so new spheres are installed all around. Fluids and filter replaced and fixed some leaking lines. Everything works perfectly now for many years already. I have dropped the car a bit with adjustable levers, making it standards is done in 15 min.
- Paint:
The paint is in ok condition as a drivable car, but the age is showing (scratches, spots, paint peeling on the hood,etc) The best case would be to have the car completely resprayed.
The inside of the car I already adressed. Cleaned it thouroughly and gave it a new coating with new insulation foam.
- Interior:
I have put a blue leather interior in the car, this was what I could find at the time. I have Pullman seats and rear bench available with the car, but I haven’t found time to install it yet!
The dashboard was initially cracked so I replaced with a new bleu dash in mint condition. The burlwood trim would need some attention in some spots.
Overall the interior is pretty nice!!
- Controls
Electronic windows work perfectly, central locking (pneumatic) works perfectly, suspension works perfectly, every gauge and sensor works. Heating valve will be adressed this week.
- Engine:
Running and driving like a charm. Always starts and really still has a lot of power..
Spare parts coming with the car:
- Full Pullmann interior (seats, bench, door cards)
- 4 extra suspension valve blocks
- Set of perfect rear lights (like new)
- Original wheels (Barock)
- Set of perfect bumpers
- Rear right door SEL as this should be replaced due to earlier damage.
- Full set of door and trunk seals
- A few boxes of extra spareparts.
Overall an honest and good driving car.
I have enjoyed driving this car, it never let me down. Even after standing for two years, it was up and running in a few minutes without hesitation.
I hope I can find someone who will take care of this car and take it to the next level.
I am open for trades against early AMG’s, Brabus, 500E’s or any other special Mercedesses.
