The modern generation of the venerable Geländewagen/G-Class/G-Wagen has stood the test of time, boasting an impressive 45 years of uninterrupted production. This iconic vehicle has become synonymous with the ‘Luxury Off-Roader’ segment, where the G-Class now holds a prominent place. Initially presented as a show car at the IAA 2015, the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4 Squared was not intended for production. However, positive feedback led to a change in course. With an imposing height of nearly 2.3 meters and a width of 2.1 meters, this vehicle will not be easily overlooked, whether in a parking lot or city traffic. The G500 4×4² is equipped with a new 4.0 V8 engine, sharing technology with the AMG V8 found in the AMG GT and C63 AMG. The ‘hot inside V’ design with two internal turbochargers makes the engine compact and efficient. Key features include portal axles, similar to those found on the G63 6×6, but with one less axle. To optimize the driving experience, the suspension has been enhanced with two springs and damper struts per wheel, inspired by rally sports.
