Descrizione del veicolo
1969 Jensen Interceptor MK1 with the 6.3L V8 producing 335 bhp
Introduced in 1966, the Interceptor was built in West Bromwich for a period of 10 years and evolved from the original MkI through to the final MkIV, a decade later in 1976. The original MkI is the rarest version as only 923 were built and just 30 are said to survive today.
The all steel body shell was styled by Carrozzeria Touring in Italy and built by Vignale, arriving in the Midlands to then be paired with the inimitable 6.3L Chrysler V8 and automatic transmission. When new it cost substantially more than an Aston Martin and was double the price of an E-Type Jaguar. This particular car is the rarest and most desirable Series 1 and is a late production model, built just prior to the Series II in 1969. And this one is even rarer as only 10 examples rolled off the production line in Positano Yellow.
She is an original UK, right-hand drive car that retains the original engine and gearbox configuration. She was imported into Germany back in 2017, where she was purchased by her last owner. This Interceptor was originally specified in Positano Yellow with a black leather upholstery, as it remains today. The car has benefitted from a restoration back in 2019. They chose to do a full cosmetic bare steel overhaul, meaning that her body is in immaculate condition. What we, as classic petrolheads, really appreciate is the fact that they did not restore the interior but kept it in original condition. Only her front seats were reupholstered to match the rest of her well-kept interior. Also her Tudor Webasto roof has been taken care of to make sure that no water comes in.
Mechanically she does not disappoint either with her 6.3L low deck big block V8, which drives and sounds amazing. She has more than enough power to please you in any situation. During her restoration she was fitted with an upgraded cooling system that ensures better driveability during the summer months. Her automatic TorqueFlite gearbox is a smooth shifting example that sends 335 bhp to the rear wheels through an original limited slip differential. During her restoration, her suspension, brakes, etc. were overhauled and an Autosports wiring loom was fitted. Her original manual and booklets are present with the vehicle.
Our Interceptor looks, drives, and feels absolutely right and retains that 60's charismatic smell of leather inside the very period looking cockpit. Coming out of a lovely collection, our vendor is a real classic car enthusiast who has enjoyed the journey with this particular car and accordingly we are pleased to bring it to market. A rare opportunity today and viewing is thoroughly recommended.
